Our Mission: 826 Seattle is a nonprofit writing and tutoring center dedicated to helping youth, ages 6 to 18, improve their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write. At 826 Seattle, we believe significant learning happens with individual attention and that strong writing skills are essential for future success.

In The

Shoshanna Love

starsShoshanna Lovestars

Sometimes talented, smart, funny volunteers end up spending several years with us (If we’re really lucky). Enter: Shoshanna Love. This gal represents so much of what is good in the 826 Seattle Volunteer World.

Shoshanna’s volunteer application is dated October 2006 – this places her solidly in her 8th year of volunteering with us. When she is not at 826 Seattle, she might be volunteering at Rain City Rock Camp for Girls or teaching her cat tricks. (For those wondering, her cat can jump through a hoop, touch noses and high five.)

Her favorite 826 Seattle anecdote? “One time a student raised his hand during a field trip and said he had found a tooth.  We asked if anyone had lost a tooth and multiple students raised their hands.  We tried to narrow it down by reframing the question as, "Did anyone lose a tooth in the last hour?" but strangely there were still several claimants.  We never figured out the legitimate owner of the tooth.”

826 Seattle is a chapter of 826 National.
