In the Schools
We recognize that it can be difficult for teachers to devote the individualized attention required for successful writing and research projects. Thanks to our extensive roster of trained volunteers, we can provide Seattle teachers with in-class support for teacher-designed writing projects.
With the teacher acting as director, 826 Seattle volunteers help edit student work, guide research, and generally make it possible for teachers to assign writing projects that might not otherwise be possible.
Interested teachers should email 826 Seattle Executive Director Teri Hein (terihein@826seattle.org) with a description and timeline for the writing project they have in mind, and the preferred number of volunteers.
“I know that 826 Seattle is for all young people, but I feel it is really offering my students opportunities that they haven’t been able to take advantage of before due to the costs of such services.”
