826 Seattle, a non-profit writing and tutoring center for students ages 6-18, is gearing up for our annual Mustache-a-Thon (Grandson of ‘Stache!), which starts October 9, 2008. A popular fundraising event for three years running, the Mustache-a-Thon is quickly becoming a local institution. I’d like to invite you to be part this event. Supporting the Mustache-a-Thon—a proven success—helps 826 Seattle programming year-round: from after-school homework help to creative writing field trips and workshops to in-school publishing projects, all of which are completely free to students and teachers.
This year’s Mustache-a-Thon is going to rock harder than ever with a Mustache Battle of the Bands. The Battle will pit popular local musicians against one another during the six-week Mustache-a-Thon, testing both their follicle fortitude and their ability to BRING IT onstage at the final Battle of the Bands Showcase in November. May the hairiest band win!
In 2006, the original Mustache-a-Thon raised over $10,000 for 826 Seattle. In 2007, the growers raised an amazing $15,000. This year, we’ve set our sights on a $20,000 goal for Grandson of ‘Stache.
Sponsoring the six week long Mustache-a-thon and Mustache “Battle of the Bands” Music Showcase is a unique way for you to support 826 Seattle’s successful youth writing and after-school tutoring programs and reach an audience of literate music fans, young people, educators, and philanthropic patrons.
