Event Goals

Our vision is to create a truly compelling fundraising event that reflects the unusual, creative character of 826 Seattle. What other nonprofit writing center organization has a space travel supply company as its entry way from the street? Where else can young people take, free of charge, writing workshops that cover such essential genres as creating recipe books for aliens and writing odes to one’s socks? And yes, we also teach proper grammar and help students with their homework.

We hope to continue the success of this annual event and help fund the following programs, all of which are offered free of charge:

  • One-on-one drop-in tutoring for an average of 35 students a day
  • Field trips for school groups who come to 826 Seattle to experience the inspiration of writing through theatrical writing events
  • Publication of student works
  • Dozens of writing workshops

To request an invitation and RSVP information please email Yoko Ott.

Being part of the 826 Seattle Annual Fundraising Breakfast is a unique opportunity to give to our successful youth writing programs. For a sampling of student writing please visit the “Words” section of our web site.
